Rigac Cup 2018

Eurothrowers Rigac Jancsi Alsómocsoládi címer

Rigac Cup 2018

Knife- and Axe Throwing Competition,

and 3rd Big Hungarian Throwers’ Meeting

May 11-13., 2018,

Alsómocsolád, Hungary

In 2018, the traditional Rigac Cup will be organised by the Rigac Knife And Axe Throwing Association in Alsómocsolád, Hungary, the country of the famous Hungarian outlaw, Jancsi Rigac.

As usual, the most important goal is to get together knife and axe throwers from all over the world for some days of throwing in a relaxed atmosphere. Meeting old friends and finding new ones, learning some new throwing tricks. Having fun with wacky targets and throwing games. And, of course, we'll have a competition: the Rigac Cup!

Alsómocsolád is a small, calm village in the foothills of the Mecsek mountain. It is situated only 150 minutes (by car) from either Budapest or Vienna. There are many sights around and in a few minutes’ drive from here, so an extended holiday sounds like a very good idea!

Since the number of the participants is limited in 77 persons, the prior registration via e-mail is compulsory. Application deadline: 1st of May, 2018.

Rules

Both the competition as a whole and the individual events will be held according to the uniform and official European Knife and Axe Throwing Rules.

We will do the following events:

-         Knife 3 m, 5 m, 7 m and 9;

-         Axe 4 m, 5 m, 7 m and 8 m (in case of the axe 5m event, it is mandated that the axe must be sticking with its handle pointing upward!);

For each event, the thrower has to show up with a set of three throwing tools (knives/axes). Exceptions only for throwing tools damaged during the meeting.

The events of the championship will also be supplemented by the knife (3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 m) and axe (4, 5, 7, 8 and 10 m) walk back, speed, silhouette, silhou-axe, duel, no-spin knife Walk back pro (on 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 m), long distance knife, long distance axe and long distance no-spin knife events.

Combined rankings and total combined rankings

FOR EVERY EVENT, there will be four separate lists (in case of both the individual and combined rankings): for women, men, knives and axes separately (where it is applicable, and on condition that there are at least 6 female participants in the given event! /in case of duel this minimum is 8 female participants/).

Knives combine the 3m, 5m, 7m and 9m knife events, axes combine the 4m, 5m, 7m and 8m exe events.

The total combined precision ranking is the sum of the above-mentioned combined knife ranking and combined axe ranking.

The total combined silhou-ranking is the sum of the silhouette and silhou-axe results.

The total combined long distance ranking is the sum of the long distance knife and long distance axe results.

The total combined walk back ranking is the sum of the knife walk back and axe walk back results.

The absolute ranking is the sum of the total combined precision, total combined silhou and total combined walk back results.

The winner of the Rigac Challenge Cup is the best achieving competitor.

Titles to win:

-         Rigac Champion 2018 (knife 3, 5, 7, 9 m; axe 4, 5, 7, 8 m; speed; silhouette; silhou-axe; duel; knife WB; axe WB; no-spin WB; long distance knife; long distance axe; long distance no-spin knife /male, female/) (36 titles)

-         Rigac Combined Champion 2018 (knife, axe /male, female/) (4 titles)

-         Rigac Total Combined Champion 2018 (total combined precision, silhou, long distance, WB /male, female/) (8 titles)

-         Rigac Absolute Champion 2018 (absolute /male, female/) (2 titles)

-         Rigac Challenge Cup 2018 (mixed) (1 title)

In case of walk back, basically those contestants are allowed to take part in these events who fall within the first 20% of the combined knife ranking or the combined axe ranking, respectively, but at least 20 throwers per event. (In order to determine the first 20%, the points achieved in each event will first be normalized, and then summed up. Normalization here means that in each event, the best thrower will receive 100 normalized points. This ensures that a point in a more demanding event (like 7m knives) also carries more weight in the combined ranking. The event will be held at the following marked distances: Knife 3, 4, 5, 6, 7m, axe 4, 5, 7, 8, 10m. The thrower will throw one round of three throws per distance mark, starting behind the closest distance mark and moving back behind the next distance mark after completing the previous round. The total number of throws in one run is thus 15 throws (5 distances x 3 throws per round = 15 throws). This whole process will be then repeated three more times, resulting in 60 throws in all (4 runs x 15 throws per run = 60 throws). The thrower does not have to stand at the distance mark, but can move back at maximum 99cm.

Be sure to read all relevant background information, rules and regulations about the competition!

Everyone is waited for by the organizers!
